Popbox : The Proof of Online Shopping Getting More and More in Indonesia

Perhaps, if you are traveling using Commuter Line , a commuter train service around Greater Jakarta, Jabodetabek, you may find a feauture of a cupboard size locker like above photo.

This is POPBOX. To me it is one proof that there is a change in Indonesian shopping culture from offline shopping to online shopping.

Why?

Because POPBOX is created based on the idea to help Indonesian online shopper.

A national courier company has provided this locker for commuters who like online shopping but do not have time to receive the package of what they buy.

For workers or busy people, receiving package from vendors of bought goods can be troublesome. It's often couriers comes when there is nobody at home. Usually, the courier will leave a message in the house and the receiver must come to the courier counter.

Not convenient because the receiver must spend their previous time to get the package.

JNE, the name of the courier company decided to help those people by providing a place where online shopper can ask vendors to send the package to the place they daily visit, like train stations. So, the buyer can get their package without having to go to courier counter.

The servce is free for 72 hours. To use this POPBOX, a person must register first and put which popbox they want to use.
