Foodtruck Attacks Indonesia

Seeing people enjoying food on streets is not something uncommon in Indonesia. Street food business are like fungus that can be found every city in this country.

Indonesia economy can not provide enough job opportunity to all that has encouraged the unlucky ones to start their own way of earning a living. Selling food has been chosen as the favorite among others as everybody needs to eat and this provide huge market in the country with 250 million people.

However, the majority of food business in Indonesia is static. This means that sellers has a fixed place to make sales. Some creative sellers have decided to go mobile utilizing their bicycle or motorcycle and very few uses cars or other four wheeled vehicles.

However, recently, the appearance of food seller using truck have been found in several cities. Quite interesting to see as it may represents a new way of becoming street food seller in Indonesia.

It is not quite brand new because after talking to several people, they started the business few years ago. However, their numbers grows quite rapidly these days, especially in several big cities, like Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Bandung and several others.

It may not be a strange thing in developed countries but in Indonesia, their appearance has been invited quite lots of attention from Indonesians.

Learning from a mobile kitchen member with whom I spent two hours talking, it seems with the strength of the capital owner, it's quite likely, food-truck or mobile kitchen can challenge the traditional street food seller.
