It used to have special position in the Betawi people who lived in Jakarta. It was invited on special occasion only.

Unfortunately, world changes. People prefer more modern performance and show.

Now, Ondel-ondel's fate is no longer special. It is not more than just street performers collecting changes and coins from whoever walks in front of them.

A sad fate. Indeed.
