How To Know That You Must Buy A Commuter Train Ticket Or Not For Your Children In Indonesia

Well, surely you know your own height, so probably this is not for you. However, if you travel with your toddler or kids, you may have a doubt whether or not they must buy a commuter train ticket while you are in Indonesia.

Indonesia Commuter Train Service in Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) allows children to enter their trains without buying a ticket. In the past, the limit was 3 years old. Unfortunately, many argument between train officers with parents happened as it was difficult to judge somebody's age, especially because a person under 17 doesn't have an ID card to prove about their age.

Therefore, to minimize such confusion, the operator has decided to change the way to assess whether someone has to buy a ticket or must be given dispensation to enter without.

Now, the limit is clearer. It is now mandatory for anyone who is taller than 90 centimeters to have a ticket on their hand before entering commuter train stations. To make sure, no more confusion, on every station, there is a tool that can be used to measure how tall a passenger is. The toll is as you can see on the above photo (taken from Gondangdia Station, Jakarta).

So, if your children is proven to be taller than 90 centimeters, then you must buy them a ticket, otherwise, they can not enter the station and embark to the train.
