Can We Erase Sin of Corruption by Going Hajj?

A wild thought only, please do not get offended. I am a moslem too.

However, a recent news that immediately becomes viral is about tha arrest of the regent of Banyuasin, a regency in South Sumatera province, Indonesia. He was arrested by Indonesia Corruption Eradication Commission, yesterday September the 4th, 2016 at his house.

The reason for the arrest was because of the suspicion of him taking a bribe, more than one billiion rupiahs from several government's corporation partners.

What makes the wild thought popping out in my mind is because, more than a half of the bribe money is used for him and his wife going hajj.

A hajj, as you know, is an ultimate worshipping dreamed by many moslems around the world, not only in Indonesia. Lots of people are willing to sacrifice, almost anything to have a chance to go to Mecca and do the pilgrimage.

A person who goes there are promised to be rewarded the elimination of their sins.

It is kind of silly but this fact makes me wondering, if the Regent thinks that all of his sin of taking a bribe will be eliminated if he spends it for his pilgromage journey.

Will it or won't it? I can not answer that. Can you?
