Who Wants Roasted ... Dogs, Bats, Rats?
What do you do if you find "roasted dogs or bats or rats" in a menu of one restaurant? Will you give stare in disbelief? Immediately get out of the restaurant? Or just simply puke?
The last option is impolite. You know it, don't you?
Anyway, in some places in Indonesia, there are still some eating culture that may be considered as barbarian for many people, especially who come from "modern and civilized countries". Dogs, bats, cats, and even snakes are used as ingredients for food.

Those pictures are the meat commonly sold in Tomohon, North Sulawesi, traditional markets. The market has been known widely as offering vast variety of "unique meat"
You can find wide range of flesh of various animals, from regular cow upto astonishing rats, bats, snakes, dogs, cats.
Probably, you can accept people to eat snake or rats but it is understandable if you feel uneasiness to see cats or dogs listed.
It's understandable. Dogs are cats are known to be human's friends, pets. It will be difficult to absorb a fact that there are someone who can eats them.
However, before you think that they are barbarian or sadistic people, then please just remember Japanese eats dolphins and whale. In Italy, you know there is Cazu Marcu, cheese with life worm. Horses are also considered as a supply for healthy meat for pregnant women in British.
People eating animals is normal. Everybody does it, except vegan.
What makes it different is just what type of meat they consume. You may prefer cow but some others may feel dog meat better and tasteful.
So, before you throw up seeing the menu, just say to the waiter that there is nothing suitable for you and walk away.
Do not puke, alright? It is not polite.
