Photo : Go-Jeg Rider Picking Up a Passenger

Go-Jek.

The word looks like an English word. However I suggest you to stop trying to look for the word in your dictionary.

I guarantee. You will not find it.

I don't think international English dictionary has included it and really not sure if the word will become a member of English vocabulary.

It seems it will never be.

However, it may go to one section of Indonesian dictionary, someday.

Yeah.

Do you know why? Because it is Indonesian. Even though some part of a term coming from English, "Go", the other part is purely Indonesian, "Jek", a shortened version of "Ojek", an Indonesian type of motorcycle taxi.

You can find "Ojek" almost everywhere in Indonesia as it is an informal mean of transportation. Ojek is mostly operated by individual.

However, you may find Go-Jek in Indonesia bigger cities only such as Jakarta, Bandung, or Bogor.

Go-jek is a modern style ojek. Passengers can order the service using specific application on mobile device. They can also see the fare popped up after entering the destination.

After the order is accepted by a rider, the nearest one, then they usually will give a call to the passenger to decide a meeting point.

Quite reliable service and also cheap.

You can take a look of a Go-Jek rider picking up a passenger below.

There are some other similar service in Jakarta, such as Grab Bike.

You should try because this transportation can ride you faster than cars in Jakarta very crowded streets.
